Trader Joe’s Sipping Chocolate: Cocoa heaven

19 Oct

It’s Friday, and it’s time for the best drink of the week and of the season: hot chocolate. TJ’s offers a delicious selection. I mean, I am wowed!

Trader Joe’s Sipping Chocolate

Back story: I’d just tried another store’s hot chocolate, and I wasn’t a fan of how it tasted. So, I was scared that TJ’s version might not connect with my taste.

I was also a little worried that it would be overly sweet because sugar was listed as the first ingredient. The directions ask you to put three tablespoons of chocolate in heated milk, and then said to add more sugar, if needed. That sparked my curiosity. More sugar?

The milk was heated. The cocoa added. I sipped. Wow! Delicious flavor on the lighter side, yet rich and full. And not too sweet! I can see how someone might want to add more sugar, but for me, this was perfect.

NOTE: It’s meant to be a small, thick drink. Check out the photos in the sipping chocolate review below, under “Related Links.” However, I used a full cup of milk with three heaping spoonfuls of chocolate and loved it. So, enjoy it how you like and make it your own.

Trader Joe’s, thank you. Really. Thank you.

And thank you for reading and following Things I Love at Trader Joe’s!

Have you tried Sipping Chocolate? If so, how did you make it, and what did you think?

      Hi, Beverly,

I found TJ’s Sipping Chocolate offered through Amazon – It’s REALLY expensive, but seems to be available now, although this page states, “only 1 left in stock.”

If I find any other outlets, I’ll let you know!

Thanks for visiting Things I Love at Trader Joe’s! Happy New Year!

I missed it last year,– but its BAAAACK … tried it for the first time today using 3 tbs chocolate and 8oz (1 c?) lowfat milk — yum! might even try it with a little less chiocolate, and stock up before it disappears.

It’s SO good, isn’t it?! I like your idea to stock up.
        Enjoy ; )

I totally agree with you! Trader Joe’s seasonal Sipping Chocolate is delectably delicious! I have had expensive Sipping Chocolate in chocolate/pastry shops, and theirs, at least to me, definitely holds their own against some of the best Sipping Chocolates.

A little flavor tip, instead of adding more sugar, add Peppermint Oil or Oil of Orange (both food grade), I think you’ll enjoy it 🙂

Thanks so much, Janice! Great to know how TJ’s Sipping Chocolate stacks up against others. Looking forward to trying the oils! Sounds tasty. 🙂
