Tapenizza: A new taste sensation

1 Apr

Last winter, I brought Trader Joe’s killer tapenade to a party. The jar was emptied in about 15 minutes. It was that delicious.

Dazed in an appetizer stupor, little minced olives danced in my head until somehow they found their way tapping across a field of dough and an idea was born. What if you had a whole pizza topped with tapenade?

How would it taste? Unbelievably delicious.

What would you call it? Tapenizza.

And a few months later, topped with a little Parmesan, voila …

An experiment gone right.

A Tapenizza is born: Warm and ready to devour.

It was just like I imagined, after combining the key ingredients:

Parmesan cheese, a jar of tapenade and pizza dough

Tapenizza’s tasty trio.

Thank you for fulfilling my dream, Trader Joe’s.

And thank you for visiting Things I Love at Trader Joe’s!

We’d love to hear your thoughts. Have you tried the tapenade? What did you think?

Kookie for cookie butter …

20 Feb

Today’s guest post is from Sheila:

You already know about peanut butter, almond butter, apple butter, even pumpkin seed and pistachio butter. But leave it to Trader Joe’s to blaze the frontier of buttery spreads with Speculoos Crunchy Cookie Butter [ed. note: a follow up to the crunchless Speculoos Cookie Butter].

Trader Joe's Speculoos Cookie Butter

Cookie Butter with that extra something: Cookies

It’s made with crushed biscuits and tastes like gingerbread. Use TJ’s cookie butter on waffles, pancakes, ice cream and as a dip for celery and pretzels … or for you serious cookie monsters, eat it straight from the jar!

Thanks, TJ’s.

Thank you, Sheila!

Trader Joe’s Edamame Hummus

1 Oct

When it comes to dips and spreads, Trader Joe’s is on a roll. And a chip. And a cracker. As often as possible.

Trader Joe’s Edamame Hummus

In several other groceries we’ve visited, a container of hummus is twice this price and not necessarily as tasty. And the edamame base ingredient is healthier than other choices. (Although, TJ’s sells a fabulous array of hummuses. It just happens that this base is one of the best for you.)

Highly recommended as one of those items that taste many times more decadent than it really is! A win-win product.

Thank you, Trader Joe’s!

And thank you for reading and following these posts! If you’ve had Edamame Hummus, what did you think?

You had me at roasted garlic salsa…

9 Jul

As longtime readers of TILATJ know, I love TJ’s Salsa Verde. But the roasted garlic salsa is the one men have died for. This salsa makes healthy, strong women weep at a barren shelf where that salsa used to be. It’s the garlicky goodness that makes the most veggie-phobic child eat her broccoli.

And, for such a powerful item, the $1.99 price brings a tear to one’s eye as the tasty contents brings a smile to one’s lips.

Thank you, Trader Joe’s.

TJ’s balsamic: The Chianti of vinegar

11 Jun

If balsamic vinegar is a pantry staple for you like it is for me, then a key factor in your b.v. selection is quantity. For that alone, TJ’s offers a size that will serve long and well.

I’m not a balsamic vinegar connoisseur, so I can’t say honestly that TJ’s version is better or worse than any others. I’d love to hear from anyone who is more attuned to the nuances of balsamic quality.

Aesthetically, though, it can run with the pack, I think. The bottle resembles a Chianti container. That offers potential shabby chic/70’s retro decorating potential – future candlestick holder, anyone?

Thanks, TJ’s.
