Caramel + apples: Clever pair

19 Apr

I brake for Fleur de Sel Caramel Sauce. Which I did at Trader Joe’s recently. And when the stars in my eyes cleared, I looked down and found that I’d drooled (just a little) on the Pink Ladies below. And I had to laugh (just a little).

Clever pairing, Trader Joe’s. Clever pairing.

Tradition and good luck for the New Year

31 Dec

There is a delicious tradition for the Jewish New Year. At that time, usually in September, people make a point to eat apples dipped in honey. It’s a symbol and a good-luck dish for a sweet new year.

It’s so good, you might have some to welcome the new month … or the new week … or to pack for lunch every day!

Thanksgiving stuffing from Trader Joe’s

19 Nov

Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite organized, national meal of the year. It’s the night to come together in group form to eat homemade comfort food.

Trader Joe’s offers short cuts to comfort. Their Chicken Sausage and Cornbread Stuffing makes it easy to deliver a yummy essential to the dinner table quickly.

What’s inside the box: Pan of stuffing

Or maybe you’re like me. The T-day dinner is a made-from-scratch spread. I’m often, gratefully, at someone else’s house, so I return home to a refrigerator lacking in one of the best outcomes of a traditional Thanksgiving – leftovers.

Needing a bigger fix of yams, masheds, turkey, gravy, green beans and stuffing, I look around for smaller quantities. I’m thinking this year, TJ’s pan of stuffing will be on my week-after menu.

Thank you, Trader Joe’s.

Honey Crisp apples

3 Jan

A sweet and healthy fave to start the new year.

Recommendation from Janet:

Every summer I wait with great anticipation for one of my favorite fruits to reappear. Earlier in the season, Trader Joe’s had them for 99 cents a pound. Now, they’re 99 cents a piece. Sadly, I fear this means the Honey Crisp season may soon be drawing to a close.

Even at 99 cents each, I’ll still buy them until they are no longer available.
