Savor the wasabi in Trader Joe’s trek mix

8 Mar

This tasty treat – we’ve got its number. Wasabi turns up the volume in this bag of crunchy goodness – peanuts, almonds and peas.

This mix’ll kick you from behind and keep you moving on down the trail. It’s the taste of off-road travel.

The only problem is being able to close the bag before it’s empty. Tighten the reins, cowgirl. Tighten the reins.

Trader Joe’s Sipping Chocolate: Cocoa heaven

19 Oct

It’s Friday, and it’s time for the best drink of the week and of the season: hot chocolate. TJ’s offers a delicious selection. I mean, I am wowed!

Trader Joe’s Sipping Chocolate

Back story: I’d just tried another store’s hot chocolate, and I wasn’t a fan of how it tasted. So, I was scared that TJ’s version might not connect with my taste.

I was also a little worried that it would be overly sweet because sugar was listed as the first ingredient. The directions ask you to put three tablespoons of chocolate in heated milk, and then said to add more sugar, if needed. That sparked my curiosity. More sugar?

The milk was heated. The cocoa added. I sipped. Wow! Delicious flavor on the lighter side, yet rich and full. And not too sweet! I can see how someone might want to add more sugar, but for me, this was perfect.

NOTE: It’s meant to be a small, thick drink. Check out the photos in the sipping chocolate review below, under “Related Links.” However, I used a full cup of milk with three heaping spoonfuls of chocolate and loved it. So, enjoy it how you like and make it your own.

Trader Joe’s, thank you. Really. Thank you.

Revolutionary concept: Breakfast for dinner

10 Sep

Today’s guest post from Sheila:

We usually make pancakes from scratch, but on my last TJ’s excursion, I picked up a box of “Multigrain Baking & Pancake Mix” at my daughter’s request. She wanted to be able to fix breakfast when her girlfriends spent the night.

This simple wonder calmed a recent “what’s for dinner” panic with a bonus: the fun of engaging in a slightly revolutionary act. You should have seen my daughter’s eyes light up when I announced we were having pancakes for dinner!

I grabbed the box from the pantry,

Trader Joe’s Baking and Pancake Mix: It’s what’s for dinner

added just two eggs and a cup of milk to the mix,

Anticipation: Cakes cooking

and we had a batch of fluffy cakes in less than 20 minutes.

Dinner is served!

Their multigrain goodness offset any guilt I felt from including bacon on the menu. In our household, everything is better with bacon, even TJ’s pancakes.

Thanks, TJs!

Thank you, Sheila!
