West Los Angeles Coffee Station Style

15 Apr

Hello, sweetener!

What a difference a day and about 2,000 miles make. Back in America’s heartland, we’re offered household sugar at our Trader Joe’s coffee tasting station. But in West Los Angeles, I was greeted at the coffee counter by Liquid Stevia and Blue Agave Sweetener.

Another way TJ’s knows its customers and makes it local.

Box of candy-coated licorice

5 Sep

A rectangular box. Festive ’50’s-style design. Small bits of sugary goodness inside. All signs point to finding this item at the movie theater concession stand. It’s cute and tasty – what more does one want or need in a candy?!

Ready for the movie to start: Candy-coated licorice

The coating is a little thick, but it’s not too sweet. And the candy contains a potent shot of licorice.

Stop by and pick one up on your way to the movies.

Bonus: This would make a good shaker for an impromptu jam session.

Thanks, TJ’s.

Gummi vites for everyone (except dogs)

15 Aug

I love gummi bears. I do not like taking vitamins. Enter: Gummi vites.

For years, I’d been buying gummi vitamins from various stores. The label offered dosage recommendations for 4 year olds. I just doubled the dose and went on about my day.

What I love about TJ’s Gummi Vites is that they’re inviting to everyone. “Dietary supplement for kids of all ages” – right on the front where you can’t miss it.

Thanks for your tasty, healthy, welcoming gummi vites, TJ’s!

Coconut water makes tasty Popsicle

6 Aug

I was expecting something totally different: a light flavor, a small pop, an icy/watery consistency. Something totally different from what I found.

Trader Joe’s offers up the coldest, coconuttiest treat I can imagine, and in a full-sized Popsicle form.

Coconut Water fruit floes

Coconut Water fruit floes are “super refreshing” as Trader Joe’s promises on the package. And the flavor, with pieces of coconut throughout, makes a bold statement, “I am coconut. Hear me roar.”

If you don’t like coconut, there is no question that you’ll be wasting your time and tongue trying one of these tropical delights. Please, leave them for us, the coconut lovers of the world, to savor every chewy sinew and icy last drop.

Thank you, TJ’s!
